Our next ABYSS Presents is brought to you by non other than Dom Habgud, who embodies the form of Habgud, an alias formed around his signature production style.

Like many 21st century producers, Dom began making music back in college when he was studying music technology – where he created the first ambiguous selection of sounds that would later morph into a more defined and raw sound palette.

After dropping out of his music qualification at college, Dom re-envisioned himself as a journalist and moved onto university to study in the profession. It was here where he began to network with other musically inclined individuals, a move which would go on to reignite his interest in production.

Spending much of his time at university at Hope Works in Sheffield, UK – Dom began to perform warm up sets for the likes of Cleric, Rrose, Blue Hour and many more respected artists. His due diligence in this area lead to further performances after playing at events for Grey Area and Selective Hearing in Manchester.

Over time, Dom has put more focus into his music production and has been developing his sound over recent years. After much trial and error Dom has struck a balance between his original influences and a more forward thinking, club leaning sound driven by percussive rhythms and electro-acoustic compositions.

This development in sound has triggered a series of release opportunities for the young producer, with a release on a VA EP for Spanish label ‘Prophecy’ which is scheduled for early next year, followed by more releases on his own label B.A.B.E (Burned at Both Ends) in mid-2020.

In addition, due to his broad taste in music – throughout 2020 Dom is delving into more diverse and abstract parts of the audio realm with an ambient mix for Silent-One’s radio show ‘Intimate Silence’.

Perhaps Dom’s primary focus for next year however, is the launch of his own imprint entitled B.A.B.E (Burned at Both Ends). Through this platform Dom seeks to create a new canvas of expression for audiovisual artistry, merging his own productions with his own visual art and working with other creatives to deliver a truly unique final product – something which myself and the ABYSS team admire greatly.

Starting as he means to go on, Dom has delivered a powerful 90 minutes of hand selected Techno for your enjoyment, so dive in to ABYSS Presents | Habgud [AP035].
