Under the prominent alias of A.Morgan, Alex Morgan showcases Manchester’s local talent with the latest powerful addition to our ABYSS Presents mix series.

In true British style – but also synonymous with a broader dynamic in the Techno scene across the globe, the origins of his admiration of Techno are buried deep within the Trance community. As is often the case with local talent here in Manchester, Alex’s introduction to music began at a young age and outside of the boundaries of his now home genre of Techno.

Initiating his introduction into his current sector of the industry, he began with a digital release on renowned Dutch record label Dynamic Reflection entitled ‘Refracted Landscapes’ back in March 2015. Since then, he has released a variety of digital releases on labels such as NewRhythmic and Hans Bouffmyhre‘s ‘Sleaze Records‘ as well as featuring on our previous various artists release ‘ABY009 – Demeanour’ with one of our collective favourites from the ABYSS digital catalog, ‘Voices In The Dark‘.

This vast range of achievements that accumulates into his ever expanding discography and encompasses 20 digital releases also features his debut vinyl release entitled ‘Prozium‘, containing 4 tracks published back in November 2017 on Berlin based label Voight Recordings.

It was Alex’s hard work and dedication to music which first drew our attention to his profile on Soundcloud back in late 2015. Alongside his productions and DJ sets, A.Morgan also operates one of the best and most consistent events in Manchester with the Rhythm Theory collective, so in early 2016 we headed down to Mantra Warehouse for Rhythm Theory: Inigo Kennedy & Antigone where we met Alex for the first time.

Over the next few months we spoke with Alex about his vision for his sound and it became clear instantly that his direction at the time was synonymous with ours. Throughout 2016 we spent time going over submissions until one day, ‘Voices In The Dark‘ landed in our inbox.

This track was the finishing piece to a release that defined an era for our team and was therefore played a big part in building the ABYSS catalog. With signature A.Morgan arp’s and driven dance floor drums, an unmistakable combination of sounds cemented our connection through the Manchester Techno scene.

In addition to his frequent DJ sets for Rhythm Theory, through his link with Scottish label Sleaze Records he has played La Cheetah Club in Glasgow, as well as at Joshua Brooks and Eastern Bloc in Manchester and Monastery Digbeth in Birmingham.

A.Morgan‘s input and development as an artist is shown in both his continued bookings and releases. Over time as our shared purposes and values continue to align, we plan to work closely with Alex to bring back his influence on the ABYSS catalog and to build on our future working relationship.
